Charlotte Motor Speedway has decked the halls (and the grandstands) to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year. You’ve got to get to Concord, North Carolina this Christmas to see the illuminated superspeedway at its most festive. Here’s why.

  1. It’s the area’s premiere light show.
For nine years, Charlotte Motor Speedway has been dazzling holiday revelers with a light show that just can’t be topped. With 3.5 million lights, this year’s show will be the brightest yet.
  2. Everyone in the family will love it.
The lights alone are sure to wow your crew, but Speedway Christmas offers plenty of bonus activities and experiences that appeal to all ages making it the perfect multi-generational event. Read on.
  3. The event kicks off with a fun run.
Always wanted to race under the lights? Now is your chance! On November 17, costumed runners will take over the track for the Eggnog Jog 5k. Sipping eggnog isn’t required and there will be fireworks at the finish.
  4. Drive-in movies play on the weekends.
Everyone loves a classic Christmas movie, and there’s nothing like the nostalgic feeling of a drive-in. Add the giant SpeedwayTV and festive surroundings, and it’s a holiday home run.
  5. You get to drive on the track.
Take advantage of this rare opportunity to drive your own car on the same track as NASCAR racers! Even at scaled-back speeds, it’s a thrill to be behind the wheel on the storied speedway.
  6. Dining options are done right.
Charlotte Motor Speedway is known for fun foods. Find them in the infield Christmas Village, or make a reservation and enjoy an upscale meal and bird’s-eye-view inside The Speedway Club.
  7. The views are spectacular.
Get your camera ready! In addition to The Speedway Club, the Overlook between Turns 3 and 4, and atop the new five-story Ferris Wheel are two more awesome vantage points to see the lights.
  8. The festivities just keep coming.
The entertainment continues at the end of the 3.75-mile course. Hop out of the car to enjoy the Christmas Village, complete with artisan vendors, s’mores, a nativity scene, Santa, music and more.
  9. The location is holiday getaway gold.
Along with Speedway Christmas, you can wrap up shopping and go ice skating at Concord Mills, then stay overnight at Great Wolf Lodge to experience Snowland—all located at Exit 49 off of Interstate 85.

The best part? Speedway Christmas runs from November 18 through December 31 (closed on Christmas Day) giving you and your family plenty of time to plan your visit.
